About our Nurture Centre

Conor & LJ

Dear Parents,

The concept behind this nurturing project is to support family learning and to ensure that our youngest pupils get the very best start on their journey of learning through our school.

St John’s, together with Killowen P.S. and Kylemore Nursery, secured funding for the Churchland Community Supporting Families through Learning project from the Department of Social Development, for a 15 month pilot scheme which provides funding for a teacher and a classroom assistant as well as a fully resourced room.

Our Nurturing Centre is dedicated to a child centred approach to support our children through the vital early stages of their school life. We aim to develop individual children’s social, emotional and behavioural skills as well as further developing their academic abilities.

We are fully aware of the unique role parents play in the development of their children’s learning and we are committed to help develop further parental skills by offering a number of practical, family-orientated parental workshops in the coming months. It is our intention to provide a crèche facility during these workshops to alleviate any childminding issues for parents.

Please feel free to drop in and view the Nurture room at any time!
